Designing for Sweden

A project we worked on for a Swedish camping and outdoor activity center. We designed the beaver logo and two roll up banners to take to fairs. We loved working with the wonderful pictures and designing all the pictograms and the illustrations. Almost feels like we're there :-)

Hier werkten we aan voor een Zweedse camping en buitensportcentrum. We ontwierpen het beverlogo en twee roll up banners om mee naar beurzen te nemen. We vonden het heerlijk om met de prachtige foto's te werken en al de pictogrammen en de illustraties te ontwerpen. Voelt alsof we er bijna zijn :-)

Duurzaam Drukwerkproject

Soms wil je graag iets mooi laten drukken, maar wel in een kleine oplage. Dan is drukwerk niet goedkoop. En zeker niet als je drukwerk wilt wat van goede kwaliteit is en milieuvriendelijk is geproduceerd. We merkten dat verschillende (web)winkels en bedrijven daar tegen aan liepen. Daarom bedachten we: 

Het Duurzaam Drukwerkproject. 

We verzamelden mensen die visitekaartjes en/of grotere kaarten nodig hadden en lieten die ineens op 1 drukvel 500 keer drukken. Zo kregen alle deelnemers prachtig drukwerk, voor een prijs die vergelijkbaar is met die van een voordeelprinter of copyshop. 

Dit beviel zo goed, dat we er een gewoonte van gaan maken :-)

In de 3e week van januari drukken we weer. Wil je meedoen? Stuur ons dan een e-mail voor de voorwaarden.

We verzorgen ook graag het ontwerp van de kaarten als je dat niet zelf kunt of wilt.

Specificaties:

300 grams Biotop offset met gebruik van natuurpigmenten, mat.

Full color voor en achterkant.

Levering: week 4 2013

Heb je een ander soort drukwerk nodig? Neem dan ook zeker contact op. Wie weet kennen we daar ook meer gegadigden voor!

We have started a sustainable printing project: we are gathering people who need business cards or postcards, to print them at once. This way, you can have a reasonably small amount (500 pcs)of high quality and environmentally friendly produced cards, for a price comparable to that of a low price printer or copyshop.

House for sale

Ons huis staat te koop. Al houden we ervan en wonen we er heerlijk. We hebben namelijk een Grote Droom, en we hebben besloten dat we het niet bij dromen willen laten. We willen met gezin en bedrijf verhuizen, of eigenlijk emigreren. Naar Zweden. We zijn verliefd geworden op de Zweedse combinatie van natuur/ruimte en design. En de manier waarop ze over kinderen, opvoeding en onderwijs denken. We hebben een mooie plek gevonden, waar ze ons ook nog eens graag willen hebben. 

Maar we zijn er nog niet. Stap 1 voor nu is ons huis verkopen. En daarom ontwierpen we deze flyer. Alle hulp is heel welkom. Dus ken je iemand die een huis zoekt? Stuur ze gerust onze info. Of tweet, share, pin, blog, print onze flyer desnoods en gooi hem bij je buren door de bus :-)

Een belofte: help jij ons aan de koper, dan ontwerpen wij jouw volgende verjaardagskaart, logo, of wat voor ontwerp je maar kunt gebruiken.

Our house is for sale. Even though we love it and enjoy living here. Because we have a Big Dream. And we decided we don't just want to dream about it. We want to move to Sweden with our family and company.

Favourite client

Here in Holland we have a saying: "pre-fun is half the fun". We had a wonderful time preparing for our little girl Sofie. Had we been bakers, we would probably have baked a delicious cake to celebrate the birth of our baby girl. Or maybe as interior decorators we would have made her the perfect nursery. But we are graphic and product designers, so we created her own visual identity..

We designed a special Sofie-owl. Sofie means wisdom and owls have a history for being seen as wise animals. And they are both very cute, so it was a perfect match! Luckily now we know Sofie is not a night-owl :-) 

We designed a birth announcement card and a window poster and we made special treat bags for the boys to hand out at school. They included a snack with a "Sofie-sleeve", a little box with pencils, coloring pages and a birth announcement card. To decorate the treat bags, pencil boxes and the envelopes we designed two stamps. They are available at the wonderful stamp-webshop Moosmade.

Voorpret is de halve pret.. Dat ging zeker op tijdens alle voorbereidingen voor de geboorte van ons kleine meisje Sofie. Waren we bakkers geweest, dan hadden we waarschijnlijk een heerlijke geboortetaart gebakken. Als binnenhuis architecten hadden we misschien een prachtige babykamer ingericht. Maar we zijn grafisch en product ontwerpers, dus we maakten een eigen huisstijl voor haar..

We ontwierpen een speciaal Sofie-uiltje. Sofie betekent wijsheid en uilen worden al eeuwenlang gezien als een wijs dier. En ze zijn allebei erg schattig, dus dat past perfect! Gelukkig weten we nu dat Sofie geen nachtuiltje is ;-)

We ontwierpen een geboortekaartje en een raamposter en we maakten traktatiezakjes die de jongens uit konden delen op school. Er zat een ontbijtkoekje in met een "Sofiewikkel", een doosje kleurpotloden, kleurplaten en een geboortekaartje. Om de traktatiezakjes, potlodendoosjes en enveloppen te versieren ontwierpen we twee stempels. Ze zijn verkrijgbaar via de onvolprezen stempel-webshop Moosmade.

Our blankets in ZonderMeer Magazine

Our organic blankets are featured in the Kids Shopping section of Dutch ZonderMeer Magazine!
It's a new beautiful and glossy like magazine for people with a food challenge. But really it's inspiring for everybody who is interested in food and a healthy lifestyle.

So why are our blankets featured there? Because unfortunately there are many children who suffer from eczema due to a food intolerance or allergy. Our organic cotton bedding is a safe and very comfortable choice for them. Actually, that's exactly why we designed the collection, because our eldest son had lactose intolerance as a baby and developed quite a bad eczema. We love how the founders of ZonderMeer Magazine are turning their challenges into a positive experience too and found our products in the process!

playgarden - an illustrated map

We are lucky to have what they call here a "nature play garden" in our village. It's a wonderful place for children and their parents to hang out. It is a playground designed to encourage play with water, mud, sand, trees, find little creatures as frogs, butterflies and build rafts, dams or tree houses. And this summer they opened an apiary, which not only provides shelter to honeybees, but also functions as a bee education center for children to find out why bees are so important.

One of the founders flew over the playground with his hang glider and took pictures. We designed an illustrated map from them. We hope it will help the kids explore the playground and have lot's of exciting adventures.

Cool project: branding for webshop

Got to do a really cool branding design for a webshop. Perfect enthusiastic client, lot's of freedom and an inspiring assignment. What more can we wish for :-)

Client: Ansje: a webshop with handmade baby and kids lifestyle products. 

Objective:

Design a visual identity.

Style: cheerful colors, and important words are "handmade, personal, original and passion for working with fabrics".

We chose to design a character logo for the owner, to express the personal approach.
For the header of the webshop we designed a fabric pattern that underlines the important role for fabrics and handcraft.

Roparun Team Steamwork

This weekend 325 teams worked hard to raise money and awareness for cancer, by joining the Roparun, a relay race from Paris or Hamburg to Rotterdam.
We designed and sponsored the logo and a character for team 293: Steamwork:

They named it Steampy and took it everywhere they went :-)

We congratulate all the dedicated Roparun participants with their achievement, they worked hard in the past warm days. Well done!

We are happy and proud for the posters to be in such a nice magazine surrounded with wonderful items.

Spoonflower

A few months ago we heard about Spoonflower. Great concept: they print textile on demand. You can choose from thousands of designs and they will print it on the textile of your choice. They have some wonderful organic cotton fabrics and print eco-friendly!

Also: you can upload your own design. So we decided to give it a try, for some projects of our own. We received a yard of the puffin design already and the fabric and print turned out really nice. 

We would love to hear your thoughts: would you order at Spoonflower? And what would you use the fabric for? Any suggestions for new designs?

Free counting memory game

We designed a winter counting memory. Because we love winter and we miss it dearly now that it's still a stormy autumn here in Holland.. and because our son loves to count and play games. 

You can download and print it for free at MoodKids blog. 

There is just one extra rule to make the counting even more fun :-)

Match cards with the same value. So you can match two fives, but you can also match a five and the 5 candles, or the 5 candles and the 5 trees.

is the title of an article in Dutch parenting magazine 'Ouders van Nu'.. one of the solutions is: our organic cotton Deer blanket! Nice retro styling by Stylecookie. Our blanket was put forward by TanteTed, a very cool webshop for boys.

Cute Sinterklaas

Last month we designed a Sinterklaas game for children for the beautiful online magazine Moodkids Sint Special. After, we were contacted by an American Kindergarten teacher. Their school was organizing a 'Holidays around the world' theme and they wanted to know if we could translate our game to English. Of course we did, because how cool is that, to know that children on the other side of the world will be playing it..! And a really nice idea too: "Each teacher represents a country and their custom. The teacher dresses up, has an activity and maybe a treat from that country."
We sent them some other suggestions too, like the 'pepernoten' recipe we saw on Babyccino blog.
And then a little later we got this thank you photo..
